LED Demarcation Light for escalators! Better than typical fluorescent lights! Here’s why:

Lifetime warranty – Depending on conditions, our LED demarcation light can provide up to 10 years or more of continuous service without significant dimming (see data below).

Lower power consumption – Under-step demarcation light unit is a green product (no pun intended). 24V unit consumes 1 watt of power compared to the approximately 35 watts consumed by a typical fluorescent unit. That can result in a savings of up to $80/year per escalator!

Water resistant – MES970 demarcation light is poured in epoxy, making it almost impossible for water to get into it. (See picture above)

Inexpensive – As far as we are aware, our unit is the most economical LED demarcation light available.

Safety – Unlike fluorescent units which light up the entire machine area, the under-step light fixture emits bright points of green light directed toward the passenger’s eyes, signaling him or her that he/she is approaching a danger point. The overall light output of our LED demarcation light is less than that of a fluorescent unit, but it is only directed where it is needed, and is much brighter at the LEDs than at the point on a fluorescent tube (see data below)

Light Output The light out of one of these green LEDs, measured at 15″ directly in front of the unit is 12.2 lux. (Compared with 1.8 lux, the amount of light which is emitted from a 1/2″ diameter area of a typical fluorescent lamp, measured without the green filter. When the filter is added, the light output of the fluorescent lamp is further reduced to perhaps 1 lux, depending on what type of filter is used).

Durability The typical life expectancy of LEDs at 20mA is about 50,000 hours of illumination. At the above listed input voltages, the average current through the LEDs is 14mA, so life expectancy should be greater, although there is no data available at 14mA. Unit is water resistant.
